Birds Australia, formerly known as the "Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union" (RAOU), was founded in 1901. It is Australia's peak non-governmental organisation dealing with bird conservation. We are dedicated to the protection of birds and their habitats through research, education and conservation. Birds Australia is affiliated with Birdlife International.
Birds Australia (Southern NSW and ACT) or BASNA is one of eight regional groups of Birds Australia.
The BASNA office is now located in the Birds Australia Discovery Centre at Newington Armory in Sydney Olympic Park. Visit our contact page for further details, including new phone numbers.
Our email address has also changed to basna@birdsaustralia.com.au. Please update your email address books.
We look forward to seeing you at our new address soon.
Welcome to our website, we hope you find it useful and informative. There are three recent additions to the site:
The Birds Australia Discovery Centre.
BASNA's exciting new initiative.
This section will appeal to anyone planning a holiday or traveling in NSW. There are guides to local birding spots in regional NSW and the ACT, with maps of local areas, descriptions on where to find the best birds and bird species lists.
These are bird tours for BASNA members, which have proven to be very popular. They include tours to the outback and other areas of high bird interest all over Australia and are both camp and accommodation based.
